UPDATE: Saline County armed robbery suspect arrested

SALINE COUNTY (KATV) - The armed robbery suspect deputies spent most of Wednesday searching for was arrested Thursday morning.

Lt. Scott Courtney with the Saline County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that a 911 caller saw Joshua James Young on Holy Ridge Road around 5:30 a.m. asking for gas or a ride out of the area. They caught up with him around 7:00. He allegedly tried to run away but deputies caught him after a short chase.

Deputies first started looking for Young after he allegedly stole a generator at gunpoint from a the garage of a residence in the 1100 block of Highway 70 Wednesday morning. He will be charged with 16 felony counts, including aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and breaking or entering, plus two misdemeanors.

Young will have a bond hearing on Friday. Until that time, he is being held at the Saline County Detention Center.
