Funeral, vigils held for 15-year-old Adrian Broadway

Family, friends and the community attended a funeral for a Little Rock teen who was shot and killed.

Adrian Broadway, 15, was laid to rest Saturday at{}Greater Macedonia Baptist Church Saturday.

Broadway was killed last weekend in a shooting when a group of her friends were playing prank.

Friday was a somber day at McClellan High School, beginning with an assembly right after school to remember her life. At the basketball game, one empty chair sat where Broadway would have been on the homecoming court.

"I want to express my deepest sympathy to the faculty and to the students because you all lost a member of the pride," said Rep. Fredrik Love.

There were uncontrollable tears from her teammates on the cheerleading team. They remembered her as a bubbly and outgoing person. Her cheerleading coach said she is devastated by the loss, but said Broadway's team mates have remained strong.

"They've been extremely strong. They've been helping us to be strong because they remember her always laughing and playing. And they just told me today at the homecoming pep assembly. Mrs. Crutchfield, Adrian wouldn't want you crying, she would want you to have fun," said Kimberly Crutchfield, McClellan High School cheerleading coach.

Her teacher Tashenia McMillan remembered her as a kind leader.

"One of the young men we just got about a week ago, he said that she was one of the first people to welcome him. And to talk to him and make him feel welcome. And so she was a bright light. She really was and she will be truly, truly missed," McMillan said.
