FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Walmart Foundation has donated $3 million to the University Arkansas System Division of Agriculture to help boost strawberry sustainability.
The university system's agriculture division announced the donation Monday. The division said the aim of the money is to get fresher strawberries to consumers and provide local farmers with an economic boost.
The donation will go to the Center for Agricultural and Rural Sustainability, which will award money to groups with projects to expand where strawberries can be grown.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
