Weekend events go to the dogs
(KATV) Looking for an event to take your four legged friend to this weekend? Channel Seven has a few ideas for you.
Events going on Saturday, April 20:
Promenade at Chenal: Chuy's Tex Mex restaurant isn't open yet, but they need help from Arkansas dogs to prepare for the grand opening that is set for May 7.
The restaurant has a wall designate for framed pictures of local dogs. Dog photos cost $5, the money benefits the Humane Society of Pulaski County.
Pet owners who show up and get the pictures taken will get a gift certificate for a complimentary appetizer.
It is from 1-5, Saturday April 20 at Just for Dogs located in the Promenade at Chenal at 17711 Chenal Parkway. There will be giveaways and the mobile adoption unit will be there.
Travs: Dickey Stephens Park in North Little Rock is hosting Bark in the Park Night with the Travs. There will be a pregame dog parade on the field. Just Dogs Gourmet will have bags with treats. There will be canine themed games.
Dogs get in free with a paid admission by a human. The game starts at 6:10.
Open House: The Little Rock Animal Village is holding an open house from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at their shelter located at 4500 Kramer Street on South University.
Staff will be serving Hot Dogs and giving tours of the facility and a meet and greet of CARE's Spay/Neuter Team.
Adoption Event: North Shore Animal League America's 2013 Tour for Life is a national cooperative life-saving adoption event. They will be at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter for a special mobile adoption event located at 2851 Lakewood Village Dr., North Little Rock from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be adoptable kittens, cats, puppies and dogs, plus information on the benefits of adopting shelter pets, behavioral education, and special services available.
Other participating organizations at the event include Jacksonville Animal Shelter, Sherwood Animal Shelter and CARE (Central Arkansas Rescue).
From the beginning of March to mid-May, Tour For Life will travel the length of the United States from North to South and East to West in four "shelters on wheels", helping shelter and rescue groups, in 51 cities and 26 states bring awareness to their organizations and find homes for the adorable adoptable animals in their care.
