White County hunter shot in the leg Sunday

ROMANCE (KATV) - A man was shot Sunday night after a fight apparently broke out among a hunting party.

White County deputies along with Arkansas Game and Fish officers were called to a field next to 250 Quattlebaum Road in Romance around 7:20 p.m. According to investigators, 32-year-old Adam Doty was hunting on property owned by his family when he was confronted by 30-year-old Justin Yandell, who was armed with a pistol. Yandell allegedly threatened Doty and Doty's father, and they fought over Yandell's weapon.

During the fight, Adam Doty reportedly shot Yandell in the leg because of the threats Yandell was making. Yandell was taken to a hospital but is expected to be okay.

There were no reports of alcohol or drugs being involved on either side.

At last check, no arrests had been made but the investigation is still open and charges may be filed in the future, including hunting/firearms violations.
