World Series connection close to home
TEXARKANA, TX (KATV) - Game five of the World Series wrapped up Monday night and a couple of stars of the game going head to head are from right across the border in Texarkana, Texas. Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha grew up about ten miles from Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks. They even played together in the American Legion summer team.
22-year old Wacha joined the Cardinals pitching rotation in September. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 2009.
This is the second major league season for 25-year old Middlebrooks. He graduated from Liberty Eylau High School in 2007.
