      Chili Italiano, 12/10/13

      Whole Foods

      2 c diced onions

      2 T Olive oil

      1 T chopped garlic

      1 1/2 lb ground beef

      1 28 oz can 365 crushed tomatoes

      1 14 oz can 365 fire roasted diced tomatoes

      1/2 t sugar

      1 t fennel seed

      1 t crushed red pepper flakes

      1 1/2 T chiffinade basil

      1 t black pepper

      1 1/2 t salt

      1 qt cubed zucchini

      2 14 oz cans cannellini beans (drained)

      1 c water

      Brown onions in 2 T olive till golden. add garlic and ground beef. continue cooking until beef is browned. add fennel seeds and pepper flakes, let cook for about 1 minute; add crushed and diced tomatoes, water, seasonings and herbs. cook till zucchini starts to become tender. add beans. cook for 15 to 20 minutes on low.

      Serve over pasta or rice if desired. Adjust seasonings. Top with Parmesan cheese and enjoy with some nice crispy Italian bread.
