Cranberry orange bread

2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons shortening

grated rind of 1 orange

¾ cup fresh or frozen orange juice

1 egg, beaten

1 cup halved raw cranberries

1 cup chopped pecans

Sift dry ingredients together. Add shortening, rind, orange juice and egg. Mix thoroughly. Fold in cranberries and pecans. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean. Makes 1 loaf.
