This month's McLarty Drives Education Scholarship winner is a senior from Cabot High School. Her teachers say her work inside the classroom is exceptional, but it's what she's doing outside the classroom that really makes her stand out.

Annie Burt could not have predicted the moment our cameras showed up in her classroom ready to surprise her with a scholarship, thanks to the McLarty Automotive Group. Her teacher, Kim Usery, says Annie is one of the most selfless students she's ever taught.

Usery says, "She was an exceptional student when I had her in chemistry. She's always giving of herself to others...never once recognition of anything. she's very quietand does most things behind the scenes but helps a lot of people and doesn't realize it."

Annie consistently works to maintain good grades, has a positive attitude and is involved in many activities at CHS. In addition to that , she logged over 100 volunteer hours last year and may surpass that this year. Annie Burt says, "I think it's always important to help people that are in need. It's just a way to help people grow and give something back that they might not have."

It's that special attitude about life and helping others that many agree will take her far in life, and hopefully other students are watching her quiet leadership and taking notes.

David Surguine of McLarty Automotive Group says, "I would encourage these students to always give everything they've got because this will travel through their entire lives."
