(KATV) More cases of a viral disease spread by mosquitoes are showing up in the United States.
Health officials now confirm cases of Chikungunya in Texas and Massachusetts.
It's now spread to 27 states, including one case in Arkansas.
So far, this virus has been brought to the U.S. by infected travelers who had recently been to the Caribbean.
According to ABC's Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser, "There is no medicine you can take to prevent it, there's no vaccine, but what you can do is and try and avoid mosquito bites."
This virus is rarely fatal, but the symptoms can stay in your system for a week. Fever, muscle pain, rash, and severe joint pain are just a few.
