LRPD identifies victim in overnight homicide

Police have identified the victim of a homicide in Little Rock late Sunday night.

LRPD says it occurred just before 11:00 p.m. in a parking lot located at 6420 Colonel Glenn Road.

The Little Rock Police Department told Channel 7 they had officers patrolling just down the street when they heard multiple shots fired. When officials arrived on scene, they found a large amount of blood and a handgun located near a cart return.

Detectives said several cars were leaving the area as they arrived.

A short while later, police were notified that 19-year-old Brent Cartwright, of Little Rock, had been dropped off at a local hospital. After his arrival, Cartwright was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

After further investigation, authorities confirmed Cartwright's injuries were sustained in the incident.

A witness stated they saw a maroon vehicle pick up the victim from the scene.

Police say they have not been able to locate that vehicle or its driver.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
