Authorities say a 12-year-old has been taken into custody after he attempted to rob a Burger King in Little Rock Tuesday evening.

Officers said they responded to the 5900 block of Dreher Lane for a disturbance with a weapon call just after 7:00 p.m.

Employees said a black male around 5-feet 6-inches, wearing a red shirt, red skull cap, and dark jeans came into the restaurant through the south door facing Dreher Lane.

The employees stated the suspect told them to give him money. They said they thought he was joking, but at that moment, he pulled out a handgun and began shooting toward the employees, who had all run toward the back of the restaurant.

Customers told police the suspect then started shooting as he ran back out the door he entered.

MEMS was called in to check on the employees, but no serious injuries were reported.

Police say a short while later, the suspect returned to the scene and turned himself over to officers, stating he was the one shooting.

After further investigation, the suspect was charged with aggravated robbery and transported to juvenile corrections.

Due to the suspect's age, his identity has not been released.
