The department said the body was found about 10 a.m. The child could not immediately be identified. The body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for examination, according to the sheriff's office.
Further details were not released.
Promise Archer reportedly drowned in the White River in Des Arc the afternoon of May 13. Her mother, Amelia Anderson, said in an interview that Promise was riding on the back of a four-wheeler on a sand bar when she fell into the water and was swept away in the current.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Des Arc police and the Prairie County sheriff's office searched for Promise's body for weeks. The effort included divers and sonar equipment.
