Arkansas lawman arrested after federal authorities visit home
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) —
A reserve Arkansas County sheriff's deputy and former Arkansas State Police trooper was arrested Tuesday.
Charles David Chastain, 46, was being held at the Pulaski County jail on a hold for the FBI, according to the jail website. Authorities including the FBI, Arkansas State Police and Arkansas County sheriff's office were seen at his home Tuesday morning at 1150 Bob Davis Road in Stuttgart.
An arrest report states that he was arrested about 9:30 a.m. He was booked in the jail at 2:47 p.m.
There were few details available on the arrest Tuesday afternoon. State police spokesman trooper Liz Chapman said Chastain was arrested in a criminal investigation and charges against him are pending. She said she did not immediately have further information.
The FBI declined to comment.
Chastain, a former Stuttgart police officer, called for higher wages for police officers and firemen in the city last year.
