The Monroe County sheriff says a suspect in a shooting that left one person dead and three others injured turned himself in Thursday morning.

Arkansas State Police, which has been called in to investigate, says James Frost, 43, of Brinkley was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting, which occurred at Pinewood Apartments at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Police say 33-year-old Xavier Parish, who was also known as Xavier Parker, was found dead at the scene. The three others injured included a woman in critical condition and a man and woman with not life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff says he believes most of the crime happened outside the complex and not inside an apartment.

No motive has been given as authorities continue investigating.

State Police say information from its investigation will be turned over to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of formal criminal charges.

Authorities report the crime marks the first homicide in Monroe County since 2016.
