Basketball coach accused of scamming players' parents
FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) —
A local basketball coach has been indicted on theft charges after being accused of scamming his players' parents.
According to our news partner The Log Cabin Democrat, 37-year-old Daniel Richmond of Conway coaches the Arkansas Falcons basketball team, a private team for players between second and eighth grade.
Two parents recently filed reports with Conway police saying they gave Richmond money to fund a trip to Disney Land, but the money wasn't returned when the trip didn't happen.
The Log Cabin Democrat reports one woman says she gave the coach $1,000.
The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office website shows Richmond was arrested by Conway police and booked into jail on Thursday.
He was being held for theft of property, a county ordinance violation and extradition to another state.
