A boil order has been issued for the city of Lonoke after a water main break has left the town without any water.

The water department says the repair should be done by early Friday morning, however, the city will be under a boil order until the Arkansas Department of Health can complete tests on the water supply, which could take up to several days.

Any water used for cooking or drinking should be boiled before use.

Due to city's water problems, Lonoke Schools tweeted out they would be without water on Friday. For this reason, they decided to go ahead and close all schools.

Lonoke Schools will be using an AMI day Friday and will resume classes on Monday, January 22, at the normal time.
