A Central High School student provided a dose of Narcan that was used to help another student who was suspected of overdosing.

The Little Rock police report states the 16-year-old victim was found unconscious on the floor of the women's bathroom at approximately noon Monday.

An unknown student contacted school security and the school nurse, who said they needed to have MEMS and rescue respond to the scene.

According to the report, the assistant principal said the victim "is a heroin user" and "may have overdosed."

A student provided a dose of Narcan, which was administered by authorities.

The report states the victim was conscious and alert before being taken to the Children's Hospital by MEMS.

While MEMS could not specifically comment on opioid overdoses among students, it has seen an uptick in opioid abuse in the general population in the last couple of years.
