The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office says there is a phone scam circulating in the area where the scammer claims to be working for the sheriff's department and collecting fines.

Deputy Adam Bledsoe took to the department's Facebook page Thursday afternoon to warn residents not to fall victim to the scam.

Bledsoe says the suspect claims to be Matt Rice with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office and says the potential victims have an active warrant for their arrest. The scammer then claims if the residents don't pay a fine, they will go to jail.

Bledsoe says while there is a Chief Deputy Matt Rice, he will not call to let locals know they have an arrest warrant and try to get money.

Anyone who gets the call should hang up immediately and not give out any personal information out over the phone.
