The Arkansas National Guard has identified the two guardsmen who died in a plane crash at the Camden airport.

The Ouachita County coronoer says CW2 Rufus Ferron Brown, 42, of Arkadelphia and CW2 Justin Levon Ashley, 31, of North Little Rock died of blunt force trauma suffered in the Sunday crash.

Brown was an UH-60 helicopter maintenance test pilot and Ashley was an UH-60 helicopter pilot with the Bravo Company 2-285th Aviation Helicopter Assault Regiment based out of Camp Robinson.

The Arkansas National Guard says the guardsmen were in off-duty status at the time.

Ouachita County officials say it is believed the plane encountered an issue after take-off and tried to turn back when it crashed.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
