A strong storm system in the Plains begins to inch closer to Arkansas through the rest of today and tonight, bringing more rounds of rain and thunderstorms as we head into the weekend.

Later this afternoon into the evening, storms that develop over Oklahoma will move into western Arkansas. It appears as the storms form into a thunderstorm complex, damaging winds and some hail are possible mainly in a slight risk area in western and northwestern Arkansas.

The tornado and flooding threat look to be low with the storms that should move in Friday evening.

Over the weekend, a cold front and area of low pressure area move across our region. More widespread rain is likely on Saturday with the most likely area for strong storms being in eastern Arkansas. Most of the state should see 1-2” of rain before the storms wrap up early on Sunday.
