Little Rock police confirm one person is dead after a shooting late Tuesday night.

Police say they were patrolling in the area of 28th and Barrow when they heard multiple shots fired.

Authorities say Paul Gonzales, 30, of Jacksonville was found suffering from gunshot wounds shortly before 11:00 p.m. in the breezeway of an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Labette Manor Drive.

Authorities say Gonzales had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say witnesses heard the shots fired but did not see anything.

Gonzales' body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

The fatal shooting marks the 46th homicide, including the officer-involved shooting over the weekend, in Little Rock so far this year.

It's the first homicide not involving police since August 20.

Authorities are asking anyone who might have seen something suspicious to give the Major Crimes unit a call at 371-4660.
