The Pine Bluff Police Department arrested a 17-year-old who reportedly assaulted an 81-year-old woman and stole her money.

The woman told police she went to answer her door Wednesday at 4 p.m. when she was met by a suspect, armed with a long gun, who forced his way into her home.

Police say the suspect, whose name has not been released, demanded money and for the victim to write a check out to him. According to the police report, the suspect "assaulted the victim with the weapon, using it as a club," which left her injured.

After someone came to the door, the suspect took some money and fled on foot.

Officers say the suspect was arrested on Friday for aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, criminal attempt of aggravated rape, and first-degree battery.

Detectives were also able to recover the victim's money and the suspect's weapon and clothes worn at the time of the crime.

The police department says the decision to charge the suspect as an adult will be made by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office after the full case file is presented for review.
