Pulaski County deputies arrested a Little Rock man on theft, fleeing and gun charges after an attempted traffic stop turned into a police pursuit.

On Thursday, a deputy attempted to stop a car on Arch. St. that was traveling with a defective headlight. The deputy says the vehicle failed to stop, continuing north on Arch St., and authorities witnessed a silver handgun being thrown from the passenger side window.

The vehicle was eventually pulled over near Willow Springs, and the deputy ordered the driver, identified as 30-year-old Christopher Cahill, from the car.

Once in handcuffs, Cahill was asked why he threw the gun out the window and authorities say he denied having it. The deputy then searched Cahill, finding an empty black pistol holster in his waistband. Another deputy was able to find the discarded gun, which was reported stolen out of Lonoke County.

Dispatch then notified authorities that Cahill had was on active parole and had seven prior felony convictions.

He was jailed for possession of a firearm by a certain person, theft by receiving, fleeing, and other traffic charges.
