Slight risk of severe weather Thursday

Severe thunderstorms are once again in the forecast. While this won't be an outbreak, everyone needs to stay weather aware as much of the state has a slight risk for severe weather. (Photo: KATV viewer)

Strong to possibly severe thunderstorms are expected across the state through this evening. The Storm Prediction Center has issued several Severe Thunderstorm Watches that cover most of the state until 10pm.

The storms are moving into the state at this hour and will form into lines as they move farther into the state this evening. The severe weather threat will be at its greatest into the early evening, then decreasing later Thursday night.

The main threat will be severe wind and hail. While we can't rule out a tornado, but that threat appears to be quite low.

At this time, the weekend looks great with highs near 80 under mostly sunny skies. Humidity levels will be low as well.
