Train, semi-trailer collide on Faulkner County highway
FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. (KATV) —
Part of a Faulkner County highway is closed following a Monday afternoon accident involving a train and semi-trailer.
According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, no injuries were reported in the wreck that occurred near Mayflower on State Highway 365.
Faulkner County authorities tell Channel 7 the truck was caught on the tracks, but the driver was able to escape before the collision.
The train saw the truck and was able to slow down. However, when it hit, the truck rolled onto its side and caught on fire.
The sheriff's office says there was nothing in the trailer. Right now, authorities are just cleaning up the scene.
For about 40 minutes, the highway department said no thru traffic was being allowed as both lanes of the highway were closed. However, it reopened just after 4:30 p.m.
