8-year-old recovering after being shot with a BB gun by unknown man
An eight-year-old boy has undergone surgery Monday night after he and his brother were reportedly shot at by a man they say they did not know on Saturday.
"My heart hit my shoes," Azuree Courtney, the boys' mom, said.
Courtney told KATV she was at work on Saturday when she got the phone call that her 8-year-old son, Kadarius, had been shot.
"I didn't know what to think or how to act the only thing I could really do is stay calm and just get to my baby," Courtney said.
Courtney said Kadarius and his older brother, Hezekiah, were riding their bikes just down the street from their home on Mills St. when a man they say they've never seen before pulled up in a white van.
According to the police report, the man said "wassup man" and then shot at the boys four times. Kadarius was hit in the leg and arm.
Now she said she wants answers from the man she says shot at her children for no reason.
"They were riding their bike down the street. What would possess you to stop and shoot at them? I just don't understand," Courtney said.
She said her sons describe the man as a bald, black man with tattoos on his arm and they said the white van he was driving resembled a daycare van.
