The club that was the scene of the worst nightclub shooting since the shooting at Pulse in Orlando is apparently no stranger to violence. Just this year, Little Rock Police officers have been called to the address of Power Ultra Lounge eight times and dozens more times to the area around the club.

While Saturday's mass shooting may have been an eye opener for some, for neighbor Cynthia Broyles - she said it wasn't all that surprising.

"Anytime there's a live venue over there, there are problems," said Broyles, pointing to the club from the balcony of her apartment.

Broyles said knowing there was going to be a concert on Saturday, she decided to leave town and head to the lake to avoid what she believes was the inevitable.

Since April 2016, LRPD officers have been called out a total of 33 times to the nightclub - calls including aggravated assault, battery, shots fired and theft of property. Broyles said she's called police a handful of times during the one and a half years she's lived across from Power Ultra Lounge. She laments that police response has usually been slow.

"I was so let down when I called and said there's something bad that's getting ready to happen and they didn't show up," said Broyles. "I called them back and I said it's too late - the gunshots have gone off."

Broyles now takes solace in knowing the club that she said has caused headache for her is set to be shuttered by the city.

"Hopefully they'll stay closed down," said Broyles. "It's just some bad activity."

An attorney representing the owner of Power Ultra Lounge told the Associated Press they won't be fighting the club's shutdown, and are fully cooperating with law enforcement and city officials.
