Houston flooding could be 'historic,' residents told to get on roof, if necessary
Houston officials warned residents to seek shelter on the highest floor of their home, even the roof, if they are not rescued before flooding reaching their home.
The National Weather Service said flooding the area is expected to be 'historic' as Harvey has barely moved and continues to dump rain in areas stretching between San Antonio and Houston.
9-1-1 services were at capacity in Houston and urged residents to only call if their lives were in imminent danger.
The Texas Department of Transportation also warned drivers to avoid unnecessary travel on I-10 between San Antonio and Houston.
