Two brands of dog treats recalled

Dog treats sold under two brand names are being recalled because they may make dogs sick.

They may contain elevated levels of what the company calls a "naturally-occurring" beef thyroid hormone.

Merrick Pet Care issued the recall after one complaint that a dog got sick while eating Merrick Backcountry Great Plains Real Beef Jerky.

The recall applies to that variety and four others sold under the Merrick and Castor & Pollux brand names.
