A woman's complaint to Hobby Lobby about cotton decor she deemed offensive has gone viral.

The complaint was posted to the chain's Facebook page on Sept. 14.

In it, Daniell Rider says:

This decor is WRONG on SO many levels. There is nothing decorative about raw cotton... A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves.
A little sensitivity goes a long way.
PLEASE REMOVE THIS "decor".

The post has been shared more than 16,000 times. Many have taken to Hobby Lobby's Facebook page to express their concerns about Rider's complaint.

"I hope you keep selling your cotton-on-a-branch, and don't listen to that person who thinks it's racist. (How can a plant be racist?) Some people just look for things to hate," Nancy Pearson said.

"It would be nice if all you people come together to end racism like how you coming together to ridiculed this lady comment! We don't know what someone thought process maybe, but it would be much better to reach out to her in kindness rather than being mean! Young lady we use cotton everyday, it sold all over the world we wear cotton clothes everyday, see cotton in itself is not a part of slavery, cotton is just a object that used for clothes and other things, yes while slavery was around they used slaves and poor white American to pick cotton , for most poor whites it was job for slaves it was free labor, and after slavery it was away of life for afro American! Cotton is not the problem! The slave owners and racism is the problem! Cotton did not own slaves and cotton is not racist, it's just an object, that is used for clothing and other things which we use everyday," Klein Mcleod Marcia said.

According to the post, Rider was in Killeen, Texas at the time of the complaint.
