Bryant beats Benton 49-42 in thrilling Salt Bowl
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) —
In front of 32,128 fans, Bryant held on to beat rival Benton in the 2017 Salt Bowl.
After a 14-0 start for Bryant in the first quarter, Benton roared back. The two teams were tied at 21, 28 and 35 before the Hornets surged ahead by two touchdowns. A late score wasn't enough for the Panthers, who fell in the annual rivalry for the 12th straight time.
"That was a heck of a ballgame," Bryant Head Coach Buck James said. "Our kids held on. Our offense played great, scored every time they got the ball but once. We have to play better defense but my hats off to Benton.
"Those guys did a great job on offense and it was a heck of a football game."
