Ineligible player prompts Earle varsity football team to forfeit 2017 games

Earle High School is forfeiting all of its varsity football games, including playoff games, after an ineligible player took part in the 2017 football season.

According to the Arkansas Activities Association, the high school, which self-reported the issue, has been removed from the 2017 Class 2A football play-offs.

Now, the Salem High School team, which was defeated by Earl last week in the quarter-final game, will advance to the semi-final game against Foreman High School.

"We are grateful to Earle High School for its integrity and honesty while dealing with a sensitive issue," AAA Executive Director Lance Taylor said.

The 2A semi-final games will progress as follows:

Friday, December 8, 2017 at 7p.m.

Salem @ Forman

Mt. Ida @ Camden Harmony Grove

The 2A Championship Game will be played Dec. 15, 2017 at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium.
