Macon and Barford make SEC coaches All-SEC list
The Southeastern Conference released its 14th annual men’s basketball coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams Friday morning with a pair of senior Razorback guards represented on the list.
Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon both earned preseason All-SEC second team honors by the league head coaches, marking the second consecutive season Arkansas has had two players land on the teams. Moses Kingsley and Dusty Hannahs were named first and second team, respectively, a season ago. Prior to 2016, the last time Arkansas had multiple players on the teams was in 2012, when BJ Young and Marshawn Powell garnered preseason props from the conference.
Arkansas is one of six programs with two representatives on the teams, joining Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Texas A&M with multiple selections.
The coaches’ preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Men’s Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made.
Arkansas will open the regular season Friday evening against Samford at 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena. The Bulldogs return 12 of their 13 players from a season ago, including 97-percent of their scoring production and are picked to finish second in the Southern Conference.
