A video shows an Instagram and OnlyFans model and her boyfriend fighting in an elevator a few months before he was fatally stabbed, according to authorities.
Prosecutors said Courtney Taylor Clenney, who is also known as "Courtney Tailor,” was arrested “at an undisclosed location" in Hawaii in the killing of Christian “Toby” Obumseli on April 3.
We are charging 26-year-old Courtney Taylor Clenney with one count of second-degree murder in Christian’s death,” Miami State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said during a news conference on Thursday.
“The chief medical examiner of Miami-Dade County determined that Christian’s cause of death was a stab to the chest,” she added.
Fernandez Rundle, who was joined by United States Marshal Gadyaces Serralta and Miami Police Chief Manuel A. Morales, went on to describe a telephone timeline of the events that occurred leading up to Obumseli’s death.
At 4:57 p.m. EDT, Fernandez Rundle said Clenney called authorities to report the stabbing.
Christian can be heard in the background repeatedly saying that he was dying,” Fernandez Rundle said.
In the video, which was recorded on Feb. 21, 2022, Clenney is seen walking into an elevator, with Obumseli entering seconds later. She then starts hitting the wall before slapping and pushing Obumseli.
At one point, she pulls his hair and tries to punch him.
He puts his arms up to prevent her from making contact and pushes her back.
Authorities described Taylor’s 2-year relationship with Obumseli as tumultuous.
The violent and toxic 2-year relationship of these individuals did not have to end in tragedy with Christian’s murder as a victim of domestic violence,” Fernandez Rundle noted in a Facebook post about the encounter and murder charges.
The Hawai’i Police Department on Wednesday said Clenney, who has a Texas address, is being held at the Hawai’i Police Department’s East Hawai’i Detention Center. She will eventually be extradited to Florida, authorities said.
Clenney’s Miami defense lawyer, Frank Prieto, recently told the Miami Herald Clenney was in Hawaii for rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder.
I’m completely shocked, especially since we were cooperating with the investigation and offered to voluntarily surrender her if she were charged,” Prieto said. “We look forward to clearing her name in court.”
Aside from the case, Fernandez Rundle said “no personal relationship should ever involve domestic violence. Make no mistake about it, domestic violence is a crime, and no one should tolerate it.”
Fernandez Rundle added that “men are often unwilling to come forward as victims of domestic violence or intimate violence, as it is sometimes called.”
She also advised anyone who is involved in a domestic violence situation to seek help.
If anyone is caught in a dangerous domestic violence situation, please know that there is a strong safety-net of resources and shelters available,” she wrote. “If you are in an emergency situation, call 911. You may also call my Domestic Violence Resource line which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 305 547-0140. We can and want to help.”
Clenney was previously active on Instagram, where she has 2 million followers, TikTok, Twitter, and OnlyFans. She goes by the name "Courtney Tailor" on Instagram.
Her most recent post on the platform is dated March 30, with a few commenters referencing the alleged homicide.
"Murderer!!! You killed your boyfriend!!," one person wrote.
