CAMDEN - Richard Anders, 63, a manger of Mac's Fresh Market was killed Friday evening as he was making a money drop.

According to Camden Police Chief, Boyd M. Woody, just after 5:00 p.m. Anders was shot at least once in the chest right outside Mac's Fresh Market in the Garden Oaks Shopping Center Friday evening. A witness with Anders at the time of the shooting told police the shooter was a black male in dark clothing with a semi automatic pistol. Camden Police say Anders was walking to make a deposit of about $13,000 for the grocery store when the suspect shot him.

"It was just senseless, a witness told us (the suspect) really didn't give (Anders) the opportunity to give him the money before he shot him," said Chief Woody.

Anders was taken to the Ouachita County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The unidentified suspect is described only as a black man, about 6 feet tall wearing black hoodie.

Police spent Saturday, actively chasing down leads, interviewing Mac's Fresh Market employees and viewing surveillance footage. Four investigators with the Arkansas State Police are also helping with the search for the suspect.

On the spot where police and witnesses say Anders was shot, is now a memorial for the manager. Several Camden residents came to the grocery store on Saturday to pray and remember Anders.

"He just had the nicest smile, it made you feel good to be around him," said Buddy Morgan who says he knew Anders for over ten years.

"He would walk over with you to show you. He wouldn't just say 'oh, it's on isle nine' he'd take you right to it," said Arena Hayden.

"If you needed someone to take your bags to the car, he did it," said Barbara Banks.
