Emergency meeting calling Gov. Hutchinson to veto HB 1228

The Arkansas Senate overwhelmingly approved a republican-backed bill known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.The bill's authors say it's intended to protect religious freedoms, but critics contend it could allow businesses to refuse service to gay people.

Some people expressed frustration during a community meeting at the South on Main restaurant Sunday and rallied outside the Governor's Mansion.

A petition calling for Governor Asa Hutchinson to veto the bill has more than 13,000 signatures.

The goal is to reach 15,000.

Business leaders including Apple CEO Tim Cook are also calling for the governor to stop the law from taking effect.
