UPDATE: Man shot, killed by police

10300 block of Nash Lane

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A Little Rock man was killed by police officers Thursday afternoon.

A woman claiming to be the man's girlfriend first called police around 2:00 p.m. saying he was suicidal and asking them to come to the house at 10305 Nash Lane.

Two officers knocked on the front door but didn't hear anything so they went around to the back door. There, they found the man holding a long rifle and refusing to put it down, according to Lt. Sidney Alley, a spokesperson with the Little Rock Police Department.

They said they felt threatened and started backing away from him; one of the officers shot at him three times, hitting him. The man died soon after.

No word yet if he ever fired at officers or pointed his weapon at them.
