6/18 UPDATE:{}Clay County authorities believe a body found near the railroad tracks about 5 miles north of Knobel Saturday night could be that of missing 79-year-old Andrew Haukereid.

According to Sheriff Gerald McClung, the body was spotted by crew members aboard the Union Pacific Train as it was headed northbound.

McClung said they haven't identified the body yet, but are using a process of elimination to determine who it is. McClung said the only missing person in this area at this time is Texas father, Andrew Haukereid, who went missing during an Amtrak train ride from San Antonio to Chicago in May.

McClung said they've contacted Haukereid's son, who is making arrangements to send his father's dental records to Arkansas.

McClung confirms it is a man's body and it will be sent to the state medical examiner's office on Monday.

5/29 UPDATE: A Silver Alert for Andrew Haukereid, Jr. has officially been activated by Arkansas State Police. Haukereid was last seen at the Amtrak Station in Little Rock.

He is described as 5' 6" and 150 lbs. He has gray hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, black dress pants, and black shoes.

Anyone with information should contact the Amtrak Railroad Police at (800) 331-0008.

A search is underway after an elderly man vanishes during an Amtrak train trip. The last time he was seen was here in Little Rock.

Authorities say 79-year-old Andrew Haukereid caught an Amtrak in San Antonio over a week ago and was headed home to Chicago to celebrate his 80th birthday, but he never made it.

Amtrak employees tell authorities they remember seeing Haukereid in little rock.

Haukereid's family is searching all the stops the train made, including Poplar Bluff, Walnut Ridge, and St. Louis, Mo.

His family says he's not suffering from any medical issues and has traveled frequently in the past without any troubles.
