Teen leads project to provide homeless survival kits


A teenage girl is leading a project to provide survival care kits to homeless people in Arkansas.{}Kelli Suen, 15, serves as the Youth Council president at UALR-Children International.Suen was awarded a Disney Friends for Change grant to create kits for Central Arkansas' homeless.{}Saturday, Suen and other young people assembled the survival packets at Children International.The kits include hand sanitizer, washcloths, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, disinfectant wipes, socks, water and water bottle, tissue and snacks to eat.{}"I was looking around and I've seen so many homeless people," Kelli Suen said. "UALR Children International has helped me and other people in my community so much and I felt I need to give back."Suen and her project team will distribute the kits while serving a meal at the Salvation Army in Little Rock on April 11.
