2018 BBB Torch Awards

Four Arkansas companies are recognized for doing things right.

The fifth annual Torch Awards were held at the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock on Thursday.

Four Arkansas businesses were recognized for doing things the right way.

Usually Seven-On-Your-Side deals with companies following a complaint.

But we join the Better Business Bureau in saluting four Arkansas businesses putting into practice The Golden Rule.

The 2018 Torch Award winners include Murphy USA from El Dorado...a chain of retail gas stations usually located near a Walmart.

WhyteSpyder of Fayetteville...helping clients create a better presence online and with ecommerce.

Explore Scientific...a Springdale company that sells high quality telescopes, microscopes, binoculars and more.

And from central Arkansas, a builder that has been a member of the BBB from day one.

"We did that to be able to communicate that with our contractors and our clients...that that's the kind of morals and ethics we wanted to hold," says Jennifer Menden.

Menco Construction has been in business for a decade.

The company specializes in custom new residential construction and builds about twenty homes a year.

"We thought it was great just to be nominated,” says Daniel Menden. “You know we were like wow...that's just a great honor for a client saying you did a good job. It's very surreal to actually win. Very neat."

If you own or know of a company in Arkansas that would be a good candidate for a 2019 Torch Award, the Better Business Bureau is already taking nominations and applications for next year.

Congratulations to those companies. In the past two decades, Seven-On-Your-Side has not received a complaint against any of them.
