LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Ballet Arkansas is one of America's Top 100 Ballet Companies and they are bringing their wildly popular multimedia ballet "Dracula" to stages in Central and Northwest Arkansas this October, just in time for Halloween.
Based on Bram Stoker's classic novel, the ballet is a tale of love and horror, filled with beautiful dancing and lots of eerie special effects and tragedy.
This production features photo and video projections created in collaboration with Cranford Co. as the backdrop to the ballet, and incorporates 360 sound for a truly unique cinematic and immersive experience.
Associate Artistic Director Catherine Fothergill said, "We are fortunate to have technologically savvy theaters such as UA-PTC CHARTS Theater in Arkansas, which enhance the production quality and help us tell the story by engaging all of the senses."
Ballet Arkansas's "Dracula" was wildly popular for its premiere in 2018, and as a result, Ballet Arkansas has started the past few seasons with a spooky Halloween ballet, inspired by classical literature.
"We felt it was time to bring Dracula back in its full glory, with updated dance sequences, enhanced special effects including 360 sound, and new multimedia video projections for a unique and cinematic experience," Fothergill said.
While some children as young as 8 to 10-years-old have enjoyed this ballet, Ballet Arkansas recommends families use their best judgement with children under the age of 13 based on the dark themes in the story.
There are two weekends of performances for audiences across Central and Northwest Arkansas.
Ballet Arkansas will be touring this production to the Fayetteville Public Library Event Center October 14-15th for two public performances and one educational lecture demonstration. Then they will be premiering the ballet in North Little Rock at UA-PTC CHARTS Theater October 20-23rd for five public performances and two student matinee performances.
Public Performance Tickets are $25-$40, and are available online at balletarkansas.org/tickets or in person or over the phone at (855) 222-2849 Option 1.
