(KATV)-Little Rock — To celebrate International Dog Day, the Arkansas Heart Hospital and Humane Society of Pulaski County are collaborating on a special adoption event celebrating the health benefits of dog ownership.
Vickie Wingfield with the Arkansas Heart Hospital joined Good Afternoon Arkansas to talk about the “Paws for the Heart," a unique adoption event celebrating the health benefits of dog ownership, with a special focus on heart health.
All potential adopters will have the opportunity to interact with the dogs, discovering the joy and love that comes with having a canine companion.
And to further encourage pet adoption and promote heart health, every adopter will receive a free Keep the Beat heart screening at Arkansas Heart Hospital. Valued at $99, the Keep the Beat screening offers a clear picture of an individual's heart health, allowing them to take proactive steps toward a healthier heart.
Additionally, all adopters will be entered for a gift basket, including a shirt, hat, towel, frisbee, koozie and dog-friendly items.
The event will be held Saturday, August 26th, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Humane Society of Pulaski County on 14600 Colonel Glenn Road in Little Rok
