One person was killed and another was arrested in a shooting Monday in southeast Arkansas, state police reported.

It happened about 1:30 p.m. outside a home at 423 Lee St. in Lake Village, the agency said in a news release. Witnesses said James Harden, 53, fled the home soon after Derrick Wilson, 43, arrived. Wilson allegedly shot Harden, who died while being transported to an area hospital.

Wilson surrendered to authorities Tuesday, the release says. He faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by certain persons.

Wilson was being held at the Chicot County jail.

An investigation is ongoing.
