LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A man died Thursday after his vehicle traveled off a bridge and into a bayou in southeast Arkansas, state police reported.
Willie Martin, 55, was driving a 2002 Dodge west on U.S. 278 in McGehee. He lost control of the vehicle at the Bayou Bartholomew Bridge near the Drew County-Desha County line and struck a guardrail, according to state police. The vehicle overturned and went into the water below.
The roadway was closed for about six hours while authorities searched for Martin, according to KATV content partner Monticello Live. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police said conditions were clear and dry when the crash happened.
