Little Rock police arrested a 15-year-old suspect after a vehicle that had a child inside of it was stolen Wednesday evening.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., a caller told Little Rock communications that an infant was in an Audi when it was stolen in the area of Alexander and Stagecoach roads. The caller then said the infant was located at 12221 Stagecoach Rd. and was unharmed.

While authorities were getting information from the child's mother, the stolen Audi was seen exiting a mobile home park in the 11900 block of Stagecoach Road, and police witnessed the driver fleeing on foot into a nearby wooded area.

After a short foot pursuit, officers tackled the teen suspect, who was also found carrying a small plastic baggie holding several pills. Authorities said a passenger who was in the car fled toward the mobile home park but was not found.

However, during their search for the passenger, police also located a stolen Hyundai Sonata that authorities believe the suspects used during the theft of the Audi.

According to the police report, the juvenile faces two counts of theft of property and one count of felony possession of drugs, as well as misdemeanor charges for fleeing and resisting arrest.

Police said the infant's mother faces a charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child for leaving her child in an unattended vehicle that was on at the time it was stolen.

After the child abuse hotline was notified, the infant was released to his father.
