Nashville, Tenn. (KATV) — A 17-year-old is in custody, facing a number of charges, after crashing a carjacked sedan into a pedestrian and killing him in Nashville Tennessee.
Authorities have identified the victim as Corey Joseph Taylor, 24, of Jonesboro.
The incident happened at 1st Avenue North and Gay Street in Nashville just after midnight on Sunday, according to Metropolitan Nashville Police. An unidentified young man with a gun stole a 2012 Kia from a victim. After a witness called police, officers were able to locate the car. The short chase lasted less than 30 seconds. While the driver attempted to turn left, the Kia struck a curb, traveled across a street and went onto the sidewalk. It struck Taylor and a utility pole. Taylor died at the scene, according to authorities.

The suspect was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. He will be taken to juvenile detention upon his release from the hospital.
