Two people were arrested on gun and drug charges after leading authorities on a chase Monday afternoon in central Arkansas.

Benton police reported that officers tried to stop a stolen pickup traveling on U.S. 67, but the driver refused to stop. The Saline County sheriff's office and Arkansas State Police joined the chase, which continued onto Arkansas 229 toward Benton, according to police. Two people in the pickup reportedly got out of the vehicle and fled on foot in the 12000 block of Interstate 30, but were soon arrested.

Police identified the two as William Wiley, 27, of Malvern, and Faith Rowland, 22, of Hot Springs.

Officers reportedly found 1.4 pounds of methamphetamine, prescription pills and a stolen pistol that the two threw out of the pickup during the chase.

Wiley and Rowland face multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking meth and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. The two were also charged with theft by receiving and use of another person's property to facilitate a crime.

Wiley was additionally charged with felony fleeing and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

The two were being held in the Saline County jail Wednesday.
