2 teens killed after train hits vehicle in northeast Arkansas
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) —
Two teenage girls were killed when a train struck a vehicle Friday afternoon in northeast Arkansas, state police reported.
The girls were traveling in a 2001 Chevrolet east on Clay County Road 154 in Corning. The vehicle came to a railroad crossing at Clay County Road 157 about 4:04 p.m. and failed to yield to a northbound train, according to state police. The train struck the vehicle on the passenger side and the vehicle overturned.
Both girls, whom state police did not identify, were killed. Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller said the girls were seniors in high school, according to KATV content partner KAIT Region 8 News.
State police said conditions were clear and wet when the crash happened.
