Three people were arrested in a melee involving a gun, a knife and pepper spray at a Little Rock shopping center Tuesday afternoon, police reported.

Officers responded about 4:40 p.m. to a report of a large fight at the Village Shopping Center at 3901 S. University Avenue. Two women said they'd been walking out of a mattress store when a Dodge Charger sped toward them and the people inside the car started yelling at them, according to a police report. The women said they ran back inside the store and heard gunfire as they fled.

Three other vehicles soon arrived and the number of people involved in the brawl increased to more than a dozen, according to the report.

Rhakelle Roche Brown, 23, was accused of wielding a knife during the melee and pepper-spraying the occupants of a Nissan Sentra, some of whom were children.

Calvin Alfonzo Shavers, 35, was accused of firing multiple shots. Police said three vehicles were hit by gunfire.

One woman said the brawl was sparked by a fight at Stephens Elementary School in which her niece was attacked, according to the report. The woman reportedly said comments on Facebook led her and others to the shopping center Tuesday to "settle the dispute."

No serious injuries were reported.

Brown was charged with aggravated assault, third-degree battery and three counts of second-degree battery.

Shavers was charged with eight counts of committing a terroristic act.

Police arrested Crystal Williams, 33, after learning that she had active arrest warrants for traffic offenses and for driving without a license.

Brown and Shavers were being held in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday.
